In developments which indicate that all is not well within the ruling Zanupf party, youth leader Pupurai Togarepi has lambasted what he calls cartels and fake democrats for derailing efforts by the new Mnangagwa regime to turn around the fortunes of the country.Writing on his Facebook page Togarepi lambasted what he called cartels who had hijacked the trajectory of the new regime towards their own self interest and threatened that very soon they will start to name and shame the said cartels.
His full statement is quoted below:
“WINTER has finally caught with us, we are not really used to the chilly weather and definitely miss the summer days when it is warmer, but then that is how time in its natural march changes season from the good to the better or the worse.
Like seasons we were hopeful that collectively as a nation we would change and embrace the Second Republic and its clear Vision as enunciated by our President Emmerson Mnangagwa, we had a place for everyone to ride on the train towards making this country a middle economic country by 2030 but all the goodwill is fast dissipating, as spoilers get back to their default mode.
Indeed the more things change, the more they remain the same and that our people especially those in leadership positions, be it in business or civil service are rigid and live in a time warp with criminal mindsets and evil intentions.
With winter in mind, let me hasten to say the country has correctional facilities that are ever ready to accommodate criminals, and we have the list of rich criminals who soon will have their day in court and find new homes in places like Chikurubi where they rightly belong.
But that is a subject of another day, let’s say a name and shame ceremony is brewing and those who are sabotaging the Second Republic will find themselves in places where they really belong, forewarned is forearmed, a Damascene moment could help.
When he came to power in 2017, President Mnangagwa laid the plinth from where we would rebuild our nation and restore ourselves to the “Jewel of Africa” status, he preached peace, unity and selfless dedication to nationhood but as I said before they are spoilers, incorrigible corrupt individuals who are sabotaging the aims of the Second Republic.
As alluded to earlier we are aware of these people and some occupy very high offices, these people will be unmasked and the full wrath of law will take its course because we will not allow a few rotten apples to hold the nation at ransom.
Restoration is a process that includes total sacrifice and dedication and as a the vanguard of the party we are prepared to bite the bullet and blaze the trail, least we will be condemned by future generations as the weak link that impended growth and dined with enemies of the republic, both within and without.
The young people of Zimbabwe should put shoulder to the wheel and fire from all cylinders as we march towards Vision 2030, it is not a journey for the lily-livered or the corruptible, no it is a harsh path that requires determination and zeal and we hope all patriotic young people will take a cue and strive towards realising that dream because as African-American philosopher Marcus Garvey aptly put it, “We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery because whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind”.
Most people have a disconcerting dependence syndrome, instead of being employers and creating wealth, young people of today would rather kowtow to some employer and earn peanuts, but that has to change, we need to create billionaires among ourselves and the President has made that very clear by creating a conducive environment and opening the country for investment, thus the mantra Zimbabwe is Open for Business.
Unfortunately, some profiteering elements have created cartels and syndicates that are manipulating the economic with the diabolical gusto, they are earning millions while the broad masses suffer, we are saying that has to stop or we as the Zanu PF youth league will take the matters into our hands and strip those unscrupulous empires that are being built with stolen money.
For that matter, any development should be people centred. Selfish tendencies by some in both the private and public sectors should be dealt with ruthlessly. Any wealth should accrue to all our citizens otherwise it defeats the founding principles of our Revolution. We are determined to confront economic vampires, it is no longer business as usual, bloody suckers beware, this time you will fall on your swords.
And to charlatans in the opposition masquerading as democrats, the facade is peeling off and we now know who is the illegitimate opposition leader, yes Chamisa, the ever excitable MDC leader with a propensity to violence does not only spew vile words but he also came to power through undemocratic means, destroying the very principles they espouse in their usually disregarded constitution.
The uncouth opposition masquerades have called for sanctions on the country before, they have brought more harm to the country than anyone and them just like the cartels that are causing untold suffering on the citizenry. The law should punished them severely.
Never again are we going to stand aside while the country’s sacred Constitution is butchered by these power hungry opposition parties under the veil of democracy. We know they lost the elections and now working with some nongovernmental organisations they are determined to unconstitutionally remove the government.
We hope the State Security apparatus will move with haste and end this madness, anyone who intends to destabilise the country should be jailed, no to violent protests but yes to Peace, Unity Love and Development, that is the Zimbabwe way as President ED Mnangagwa has been preaching every other day .Togarepi Pupurai”
